ACE's popular Quiz Night took place at Lloyd's of London on 4th April

The Elior team at Lloyd’s of London once again hosted The Association of Catering Excellence’s popular Quiz Night on Thursday 4th April 2019.

33 teams and over 200 people from the catering & hospitality industry took part with a broad mix of food service companies, consultants, suppliers and recruitment companies providing an opportunity to do what ACE does best – mix and mingle with industry peers.

Quiz rounds included diverse subjects such as flags, sports and coffee.

With just a few points separating the teams, Berkeley Scott emerged victorious. The team of 6 won the Sheila Mitchell Quiz Trophy and a bottle of champagne each.

BaxterStorey entered three teams which proved to be a good tactic as they came second and third (and fourth!)
ACE Chair, Gaye Bullard said:

“Quiz Night is the perfect opportunity to bring people together from across the hospitality industry. So much pre-planning and organising go into this event from our ACE council, but we all enjoy getting together, meeting up with old friends and making new connections. The competitive element always adds an extra level of fun.”

Hosting staff from Off to Work Talent Placement welcomed and directed guests, and collected the quiz papers, and Modern Standard Coffee provided espresso martinis and coffee throughout the evening which helped keep everyone buzzing!

The raffle raised money for Wiggly Worm which was ACE’s final fundraiser for them having generated over £40,000 for the charity over the last four years.

The next ACE event will be the Summer Party on Wednesday 10th July which will take place at Kings Place, London and include the ACE Robyns Awards Presentation sponsored by Troika.

The ACE Robyns Award is now a firm fixture in the calendar, this being the fourth one. It was created in 2016 by the ACE committee in memory of Robyn Jones OBE, founder of CH&Co, who sadly died in September 2015. Robyn was known for her tireless work in the mentoring, training and development of young talent. This award puts the spotlight on the next generation of the industry, something Robyn was always at the forefront of. Last year’s award was won by James Pike of Green & Fortune.
