The Association of Catering Excellence (ACE) announced the winner of the 2024 ACE Robyns Award, which is sponsored by Troika, at its annual summer party held at the British Library on Tuesday 16th July 2024.
Alice who is the leading person for Entrée (reception services) at Vacherin was declared the overall winner in front of over 200 hospitality guests.
Her role involves reviewing innovations, trainings and most importantly staff engagement; whilst continuing to develop and grow the Entrée brand in an evolving and competitive market.
In second place was Sam Smith from BaxterStorey, and in third place was Jess Simpson also from BaxterStorey.
Tim Jones, Joint Founder of CH&Co with his late wife Robyn, was one of the judges and said: “I would like to congratulate all of the entrants. We thought last year’s entries were good, but they were even higher this year and we had great difficulty drawing up a shortlist as many were particularly inspiring, demonstrating the drive and initiative that Robyn was well-known for. The judges had to make some difficult choices, but I know that Robyn would have been very pleased with the winner and the success of the awards.”
Alice will receive an overnight stay at Art’otel in Hoxton and cocktails and snacks in the Rooftop Bar. She will also receive the Robyns Trophy and lifetime membership of ACE. Alice will be invited to sit on the Board for the next year to ensure ACE considers the needs of the younger generation as it evolves. Runner up, Sam Smith will be invited with a guest to the ACE Charity Dinner being held at Plaisterers Hall on the 1st of November. Jess Simpson received a voucher for afternoon tea plus wine at Kensington Palace courtesy of Company of Cooks.
Also at this event, Francois Gautreaux took over as Chairman of ACE from Sarah Prentice who had held the position for two years. Francois, who is Managing Director of Bespoke Food said: “The Robyns awards are always an exciting time of year for us, and this year was no exception. We had an incredibly strong group of nominees, and the top 3 candidates were all so close in scoring that only fractions decided it. Alice is a worthy winner of this year's award, and we can't wait to work with her on the ACE board over the coming year.”
The judges were Tim Jones, Founder, CH&Co., Suzie Boyd, Director, Troika, Francois Gautreaux, Vice Chair of ACE, Laurent Lucas-Dufour, Vice Chair elect of ACE, Ben Jeffery ACE Robyns Winner 2023 and Vic Laws, MBE, ACE Business Manager.
The ACE Robyns Award 2024 is sponsored by Troika, a recruitment company specialising in senior managerial, director and board level appointments across the hospitality industry delivering assignments for clients within contract catering, hotels, venues, branded restaurants, fine dining and emerging concepts.
